Groundhog Slay

Groundhog slay is an arcade style looping platformer/shooter. Take on waves of groundhogs in 30 second level loops and collect enough points to escape the endless time loop!

In this game you are confined to 30 second looping level, where the penatly of death is the same as running out the clock. You are doomed to play the same level again until you are powerful enough to escape! However, you can accrue points by killing the endlessly spawning enemies and collecting skulls if you can manoeuvre yourself quick enough. Buy upgrades for you gun, speed and jump, but remember. You cant take your points with you when the level loops, so spend them wisely!

This game is my submission to the 2025 GMTK game jam. I made all the assets, code, art, sound effects and music myself (except for the elevator music which was sourced from Free Sound.org from Jay_You. Link to the music is at the bottom of this description).

The game has a few bugs that i unfortunately did not have time to fix as i had to submit in the early hours on Sunday morning and couldn't use the last few hours of the jam to polish some of the jank. But I hope you enjoy it all the same!
